Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder
 

COPD is an umbrella term used to described a group of lung conditions such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema.  It is a progressive lung disease that is characterized by chronic inflammation of the airways in which airflow is obstructed in and out of the lungs.  The primary cause of COPD is smoking.  (COPD Canada, n.d.)
